Maintenance of Working Group 7
ISO/TC 207 thanks and congratulates WG7 for significantly completing its mandate in
developing ISO Guide 64. ISO/TC 207 asks WG7 to prepare specific proposals to encourage
implementation of Guide 64 and report progress to ISO/TC 207 at its next plenary meeting.
ISO/TC 207 remercie et félicite le WG7 pour avoir complété son mandat en développant le
guide 64. ISO/TC 207 demande au WG7 de préparer des propositions spécifiques afin

Disbandment of the Ad Hoc Group on Desertification
ISO/TC 207 recognizes the Study Report of the Ad Hoc Group on Desertification detailing
potential standardization needs in the combat of desertification and therefore disbands the Ad
Hoc Group. ISO/TC 207 congratulates and thanks O. Elmeligy (Egypt, Convenor) and all Ad
Hoc Group experts for successfully completing their mandate. ISO/TC 207 encourages the
national standards bodies of Egypt, China and Spain to consider submitting a new work item
proposal, consistent with the scope of ISO/TC 207, to initiate standardization in this important
area. ISO/TC 207 encourages any new work in this area to explore liaison relationships with
the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
ISO/TC 207 prend connaissance du rapport d'étude de l'ad hoc groupe sur la désertification
qui détaille le besoin potentiel de normalisation dans le cadre du combat contre la
désertification et par conséquent dissout l'ad hoc groupe. ISO/TC 207 félicite et remercie

Disbandment of the NGO CAG Task Force
Recognizing the establishment of the ISO/TC 207 Chair’s Non-Governmental Organization
(NGO) Contact Group and the completion of a significant portion of the NGO CAG Task
Force workplan, ISO/TC 207 disbands the Task Force. ISO/TC 207 sincerely thanks J.
Morrison (Convenor) and all NGO CAG Task Force members for their hard work and
dedication.

Funding support for developing countries
ISO/TC 207 sincerely thanks ISO/DEVCO, national standards bodies and other funding
agencies for kindly supporting the participation of several developing country delegates to
ISO/TC 207’s 15th plenary meetings.
ISO/TC 207 encourages ISO/DEVCO to maintain and expand funding to developing
countries to build capacities and participate in ISO/TC 207 activities recognizing the particular
importance of environmental management issues worldwide.

Capacity building workshops – climate change
ISO/TC 207 thanks ISO/DEVCO for offering a workshop program to build developing country
capacity around climate change issues, including the use of ISO/TC 207’s greenhouse gas
standards, and encourages ISO/DEVCO to consider increasing the number of workshops
delivered in the future.

Establishment of Joint Steering Group – Essential Climate Variables
ISO/TC 207, recognizing the importance of the standardization of essential climate variables,
asks the ISO/TC 207 Chair to support the development of a Joint Steering Group on
Essential Climate Variables consisting of ISO/TC 207, ISO/TC 211, FAO (Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), UNEP (UN Environment Programme) and
the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) to identify and co-ordinate potential work in
this area.
